While "colourless" is the highest of all colour categories, featuring the three colour subcategories D, E and F, the second best of all colour categories is called "near colourless". Their very slight colour difference is only visible in direct comparison to colourless diamonds of the highest grades. Viewed on their own or set in jewellery, G-grade diamonds appear colourless and are therefore also an excellent choice in terms of value for money. This makes them particularly popular.

Diamonds of purity grade "VS1" have small inclusions that are visible under 10x magnification, but appear barely detectable to the naked eye. They hardly affect the appearance of the diamond, which makes VS1 diamonds an excellent choice for anyone who values a good balance between clarity and price.

Cut:

The cut of a diamond determines the brilliance, i.e. how strongly a diamond sparkles. The cut is therefore not, as is often confused, the shape of the stone. The cut quality is determined on the basis of three criteria: Polish (polish), symmetry (symmetry) and the cut proportions. For some cut shapes, the "cut grade" value also counts. If a diamond is cut too shallow or deep, it loses brilliance due to fewer reflections on the side facets.
